Solar Rebates And Incentives For Residential Solar Energy Systems
Have you heard about the revolution in solar economics? No?
Well, it used to take 20 years to pay for a solar system, but now it takes 4 to 5 years! Here’s how;
First, there is a Federal tax credit which covers 30% of gross cost at installation with no maximum cap on the credit.
Then from the state of Massachusetts, there is a Renewable Energy Tax Credit, which is 15% of net expenditure, $1,000 maximum.
On top of that, MassCEC (Massachusetts Clean Energy Center) gives a Commonwealth Solar II Rebate;
- Homeowners that have a typical 5kW system installed may be eligible to get a Commonwealth Solar rebate check of up to $2,000. They can receive their check 4-8 weeks after the system has been installed. The $2,000 is based on the state paying you $.40 a watt. Blue Selenium Solar does all the paperwork, sends it in, and you to do is sign on the dotted line!
- There's a couple of other adders that can increase your solar rebate if you qualify. Here’s what it means; if you buy Massachusetts manufactured components, you can get $.05 a watt, moderate home value adder and moderate household income adder.
- To see if you qualify, check with us if you think your home is of moderate value or your household income is of moderate value. You could get up to $.40 a watt more which would double your rebates!
There is one more incentive that is a production based incentive, called SRECS(Solar Renewable Energy Credits) that caused a huge revolution in solar economics and helped reduce the typical payback periods from 20 years to 5 years! To find out more, stay tuned for our next article.
