Blue Selenium, founded in 2009, is proud of its local heritage on the south shore.The main office and existing warehouse is located in the Sandwich Industrial Park in southeastern Massachusetts. Blue Selenium Solar also has field sales locations in Eastham, MA, Newburyport, MA, Winchester, MA, and in southern N.H. where we are also fully licensed to do business. Blue Selenium created a strong pipeline of sales after launching the Company and, since being named an expedited installer, has successfully grown sales by 50 % in 2011. The company is financially strong and profitable and has hired more than 15 people in the last 24 months. Prior to the wide-scale launch, the founders invested serious time and effort to build a highly scalable operations infrastructure for end-to end customer management, project management, inventory, pricing, service, and finance. The founders felt that it was important to invest time and money in this highly scalable infrastructure so they could deliver on their promises to customers as rapid growth took place. As a result, we have more than one hundred satisfied customers from the tip of Cape Cod to the north and south shores of Boston and its western suburbs.

Quality in components and installation is not just a marketing tool for Blue Selenium on the south shore. Unlike some solar installers, investors, and customers, we do not believe that photovoltaic components, particularly panels, are a commodity, and place a great deal of value on quality. We have commissioned a number of manufacturer and manufacturing process audits and quality control reviews in the United States, Europe, and Asia. The components, parts, and equipment that we employ in our systems are based upon a strong focus on quality in manufacturing, and we follow through with best-practice installation methods.

It is important to have confidence in the reputation and financial strength of a solar panel manufacturer and in the design and manufacturing process employed by a manufacturer, so we have embarked on a quality assurance program that incorporates an on-site audit of 126 factors at the production facilities where our panels are manufactured and assembled. We use strict criteria to carefully audit and inspect all aspects of the solar panel manufacturing process that affect product quality, reliability, safety, and energy and production. Many installers, buyers, and PV investors view solar modules as a commodity. We believe that such a view is incorrect, and our review of various manufacturers, their facilities, and manufacturing processes confirm that there is a wide variance in the quality and ultimate performance and safety of panels. We are not aware of another solar PV installer that is as focused on quality. We invest in quality to maximize our customer’s return on their investment.
Seasoned Management with Varied Industry Experience
Blue Selenium's co-founders, Michael Tanghe and Wally Cole, have experience across a variety of industries. Blue Selenium’s component selection process, system design, and installation philosophies and systems reflect 40 years of experience in specialized mechanical and electrical systems design, product development, construction, and professional services at Massachusetts-based technology, engineering, and construction companies. They have led the start-up of several successful businesses in the fields of engineering, technology, construction, and solar energy. Mr. Cole is also an active member for many years of Sustainable Winchester and was appointed to the Winchester Energy Management Committee by the Board of Selectmen, in 2011.
